About Happy Feet
Welcome to Happy Feet Dog Training, where your dog's happiness is our priority!
My Goal for You
A key belief about my training philosophy is I believe nothing is more important than being happy with your dog. I know it’s impossible to be happy all the time, but I strive to set every client up for as many happy days and moments as possible. Science has proven that we can train dogs in a way that is fun and rewarding for both you and your dog! Let me show you how to communicate your wants and rules to your dog in a way that will make them happy to listen to you! Both you and your dog will be willing participants of training!
About Me
I’m Alexa Sharp-Wiley, the founder of Happy Feet Dog Training. My lifelong passion for animals has led to my love and current approach to training. Over the years, I’ve competed in various dog sports with my dogs, earning numerous titles from multiple organizations.
As a professional trainer since 2015, including certification as a trainer at PetSmart, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of dogs of all sizes, ages, breeds, and temperaments. My commitment to ongoing education ensures that I stay at the forefront of the latest training methods and techniques, always eager to expand my knowledge for the benefit of my clients.
My Training Philosophy
Happy Feet Dog Training is built on positive (R+), force-free training methods and behavior modification techniques. Our approach aims to help dog owners and their families address behavioral issues and achieve training goals in a stress-free, humane, and effective manner. Through event marking and positive reinforcement, you’ll witness your dog’s enthusiastic learning, retaining that knowledge for years to come.
A Glimpse Into My Life
Beyond training, my life is enriched by five wonderful dogs who have been steadfast companions through thick and thin. Each has contributed to my growth as a trainer and brought immeasurable joy to my life.
As a force-free, R+ dog trainer, I am proud to be a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and practice LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) principles. I founded Happy Feet Dog Training in 2022, but my passion in training and dog sports started long before that. My dogs practice and compete in agility, dock diving, barn hunt, scent work, and bikejoring! Bikejoring, like sled dog mushing but with a bike, adds an extra layer of excitement to our training repertoire and happens to be my rescue lab mix’s absolute favorite. Must be from that 5% Husky in him!
From left to right meet Loki, Charlie, Bandit, Bella, and Willow.
My accreditations include:
- Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) Professional Member
- American Safety & Health Institute Certified Pet First Aid
- AKC CGC Certified Evaluator
- AKC Trick Dog Evaluator
